What Can Happen When You Talk to Strangers

One bright, sunny Saturday in February, 2006, Steve Johnson went to soak at Pagosa Hot Springs, CO.

By coincidence, several crew members from the hot-air balloon Itsa Touchie Subject were at the hot springs that same afternoon.

After an interesting conversation about the sport of hot-air ballooning, members of the crew invited Steve to come down to Chama, NM the next morning and see the ballooning for himself.

When Steve showed up Sunday morning, the weather at Chama looked too windy to fly. But after waiting it out for about an hour, Touchie pilot Fergie decided to launch the balloon.

If you have a high-speed internet connection (like cable or DSL),
you can click HERE to download a 2-minute movie of the crew walking the balloon out.
Don't try this if you have a dial-up connection -- the file is too large (20 Megs).

36: The balloon is packed up and loaded into the trailer, so now we're all hanging around waiting to take a group picture.
